INCIDENT: Hoylake UWC+T 31/07/2007

A woman walking her dog was killed when she was struck by a train on a user-worked crossing in Hoylake, Wirral.

Jean Wilson, 80, was killed instantly on the crossing near to Sandringham Avenue (seen at the top of the photograph). No casualties were reported on the train, which did not derail.

The gated crossing has a telephone for users to contact the signal operator. It is not known if a call was made in this instance.
