INCIDENT: Quarr Farm AOCL, Isle Of Purbeck 18/06/07

Story updated Wednesday 20th June.

A steam train collided with a Link Rider coach at a level crossing on the Swanage Railway.

The driver of the coach was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital. No injuries were reported on the train, which did not leave the track. No passengers were on board the coach. The train, an ex-BR four tank engine and five coaches, was carrying a party of schoolchildren.

The crossing, leading to a farm and a storage shed used by Link Rider, is controlled by automatic warning lights. The lights were installed following a collision at the crossing in 1999.
