INCIDENT: Hythe Station MCB, Colchester, Essex 27th February 2008
A woman was killed when she was struck by a passenger train on a barrier crossing in Colchester.
Police say that Kelly Mack, 29, attempted to cross the Hythe station crossing whilst the barriers were down. She had caught her foot in the wooden crossing guard and although managing to free herself was struck by a London Liverpool Street to Clacton service travelling at approximately 50mph. A man believed to be her boyfriend was also injured. Another man, who tried to pull the woman free, escaped injury.
No injuries were reported on the train, which did not derail.
